On our last Family Brunch, we learned how a coliving project is shifting the effects of touristification

The testimony of our member Pueblos Remotos, from the Canary Islands in Spain.

For September's Hub Spotlight, hosted Elsa and Simona from Pueblos Remotos - the door to the hidden pueblos of the Canarias Archipelago in Spain.

These islands have suffered in the last years from the down effects of the massive touristification, and the team at Pueblos Remotos decided to do something to change the negative effects of this phenomenon.

Pueblos Remotos is a social enterprise on a mission to reactivate rural areas by empowering rural entrepreneurs and promoting a more conscious tourism.

They organize coliving experiences for digital talent (remote workers and university students) in rural areas where they contribute directly to the local community while learning about their traditions and culture. Instead of owning a coliving space themselves, they partner up with existing colivings, rural houses, coworkings and other innovative hubs to spread the impact of their experiences.

In this inspiring session, we heard about the human connections, the power of rural women entrepreneurs, and the importance of responsible and sustainable tourism.
