The Making Rooms is a community interest company dedicated to giving opportunities to people to engage with creative technologies, especially those who otherwise wouldn't be able to access the equipment or training opportunities. It's basically the place where art meets technology, creativity meets engineering and everyone is welcome. We have various technologies such as 3D printing, laser cutting, mould making, pottery and over the last 6 years we have helped thousands of people with their first experiences of creative technology, hundreds with in-depth training and dozens of people completely change their lives, including finding skilled work and starting their own businesses. This has been through our various programmes, such as Fab Lab Blackburn where we open to the public for free to help them start learning through their own projects, Tech Blackburn where we help entrepreneurs start their own businesses and working with other organisations such as Blackburn Youth Zone to create a purpose designed mini-makerspace in their facility.
