Cloud Citadel is a coworking coliving community for remote workers. Our building is located in the UNESCO protected citadel of Briançon at 1300 meters above sea level, and we usually host 15 to 20 colivers. The town is a popular destination for outdoors enthusiasts. It is connected to one of the biggest French ski resorts and at the edge of the biggest French national park, Les Ecrins. Remote workers who come to Cloud Citadel usually want to get closer to nature and the activities they like doing.
However, our mission is more than just creating a place where it is easy for remote workers to be active. We believe that through engaging in outdoor activities and spending time in nature we are building a stronger sense of community in our coliving. Spending time in nature improves our overall well being, tends to break social barriers and makes everyone more approachable and easier to connect to. From a short hike to a long multi-pitch climb, mountain activities can bring each of us at the edge of our comfort zone, but also enable us to support and encourage each other to overcome challenges as a group. Those are the moments where we build strong bonds. Once back to safety, these little victories empower us to make change in other areas of our everyday lives.
Every Monday evening, our community meets for a “family meeting” and drafts a plan for the week. Most of the indoor activities revolve around learning and sharing. We believe that one of our biggest assets is the knowledge and experience of our colivers. We organize skillshare or mastermind events that create a space for our members to talk about the ethical considerations, the sustainability and the environmental impact of their actions. We put a lot of energy into creating a safe space for our colivers to grow, helping them to disconnect from technology, to channel their creativity and to be more present.
