The Lissome is a Berlin-based print publication and online platform that explores the intersection of sustainable fashion design, ecology, mindfulness and systems change, and offers a space for critical dialogue and creative expression, advocating for a fashion system centred on human and planetary well-being.
We bring together creatives from the fashion industry and beyond—including writers, designers, photographers, art directors, and stylists—with craftspeople, academics, activists, and consumers. Our mission is to cultivate a culture of regeneration, compassion, and collaboration in fashion, crafts and contemporary culture, using storytelling as a transformative tool. We share new narratives that challenge the status quo and inspire meaningful change—making these ideas tangible and impactful within the industry.
We support the regenerative movement in fashion by showcasing how clothing and textiles can enhance community and environmental well-being. By highlighting the origins of textiles, craftsmanship, and responsible production, we aim to inspire cultural shifts in awareness and behaviour.
The Lissome is featured as a positive example of responsible media communication in the 2023 UN Sustainable Fashion Communication Playbook. This joint publication by UNEP and UN Climate Change provides a framework for countering misinformation, reducing messages perpetuating overconsumption, and redirecting aspiration toward sustainable lifestyles.
In addition to our publishing work, we offer communication, design and curation services for mission-driven businesses, sustainable brands and cultural and educational institutions.
