hafnar.haus is a creative hub in downtown Reykjavík, which opened in September 2022. Situated on the floors above the Reykjavík Art Museum, it incorporates 3.500m2 of space that hosts over 300 people from all creative fields. It’s a space to work, but more importantly, it hosts a creative community with an open door to the public, and a programme that creates an atmosphere of openness and collaboration.
hafnar.haus provides communal studios for sound and video, ceramic, woodworking, photography, a gym and a space for meditation. While these communal facilities lower the threshold to be creative, it’s our daily communal lunches and events (like film screenings, concert series and meetups for a wide variety of member organised activities) make hafnar.haus a place that brings people together and where spontaneity makes unusual collaborations possible.
