The objective expressed in the application was, in addition to getting to know Buinho's own space and the work it carries out, to explore the interrelationships between material and intangible heritage, both natural and cultural, the territory and the community.
Under my Utramarina brand, I develop projects, both consulting and teaching, related to Heritage Interpretation, Sustainable Tourism, Ecosocial Education, Inclusive Communication and Participation. My work is mainly related to issues of Heritage Interpretation, with its communication and the associated tangible, intangible and universal concepts, which are part of the methodology of the discipline.
EXPERIENCIE
During my stay in Buinho, I learned about the spaces available to the coworking in Messejana and from where they carry out their work in the Alentejo. In them they develop projects related to creativity, spaces for artistic residencies and to network with European projects such as Erasmus.
I also attended a workshop organized by Buinho at ResiAlentejo, a waste treatment and revaluation space. A local school attended it, and two workshops were held, one for making wallets with recycled plastic bags, and another for making objects with names, using 3D printers.
I also attended a Christmas fair in Messejana, where Buinho had a workshop and where there were different craft, gastronomy, etc. stalls. There were also musical groups from the area that performed several songs. All of this is also part of the material and intangible heritage of the Alentejo area.
I collected various information such as brochures on different aspects and heritage places of that area of Alentejo.
I made several visits, some of them guided, to different museums, centers and monuments about the heritage of the Aljustrel, Castro Verde and Entradas area. Among them the following stand out:
- Parque Mineiro (Aljustrel).
- Museu da ruralidade – Núcleo da oralidade (Entradas).
- Museu das lucernas romanas (Castro Verde).
- Basílica Real da nossa Senhora da Coinceição (Castro Verde).
- Igreja Matriz de Aljustrel (Aljustrel).
This visit to Mineiro Park was especially notable, because part of my work is the training of guides in spaces with heritage interest. In this sense, the visit served as an interesting experience on how to show, by the guide, who was a local population, the important industrial heritage of the territory and the relevance of the material and intangible heritage.
CONCLUSIONS AND BENEFITS OF THE EXPERIENCE
In general, it has been a very interesting experience that has been very well used. The main conclusions have been these:
▪ The visit to the Buinho Creative Hub coworking was very interesting, due to the possibility of getting to know another way of working, its spaces in Messejana and the people in its current team, as well as Erasmus staff.
▪ The possibility of exchanging opinions and experiences with other people from the European Creative Hubs Network, both about collaborative work in coworkings, and about the territory, its culture, as well as heritage and the community, has been very enriching.
▪ Also, within the field of Environmental Education in which I work, it has been a good experience to be able to see how Buinho carries out workshops with schoolchildren and meet the people responsible for the space in charge of recycling in the region and who have an area of communication and Environmental Education, this being a public company.
In relation to the visits to the heritage of the area, it has been very interesting to be able to see some of the main monuments, museums and centers related to the material and intangible heritage of the area. Also about this, being able to explore the interrelationships of the community and the territory with said heritage, as well as the communication of values.
▪ Particularly notable was the guided tour of the Aljustrel Mining Park, since the entire area stands out for the relevance of its mining industrial heritage. Also due to the fact that a large part of my work consists of training people who design and carry out guided tours in spaces with heritage value, so knowing other guided tours in different spaces and territories is especially relevant.
▪ It is especially relevant to build networks with other European partners, as a way of learning, exchanging experiences and knowledge, as well as establishing ties that allow the development of potential ties in the future, both professional and personal. That is why I think this type of exchange is essential, I appreciate the opportunity and I highly recommend it to other people.
