In the true peer spirit of our network, ECHN invites its members to contribute to the program of the forthcoming BAUTOPIA culture and creativity festival, taking place in Athens, October 7th - 9th

June’s ECHN Family Brunch: from the quiet Styrian hills to Berlin

BAUTOPIA is a series of annual hub meetups, conferences and festivals, organized by ECHN and always co-hosted by one of its member hubs.

This year, under the title CREATIVE AGENCY: Sustaining Culture & Creativity in the Age of Intelligence, creative hub managers, CCSI stakeholders, artists, creative professionals, students and the general audience will explore sustainability not only from the environmental standpoint, but also the sustainability of creative professions in the face of multiple crises, the technological challenges posed by the use of AI in creative processes, and the impermanence that many creative professions will be facing in the period ahead of us.

It is not just a meetup of hub managers, it is a culture & creativity festival in itself with many side-events, parallel sessions and opportunities to exchange, connect to the local creative ecosystem of Athens and Greece, as well as build European-wide connections. To get inspired, reconnect with peers and build alliances for future projects, exchanges and build our individual and common capacities.

This is why we'd like to open the process of programming parts of the event to our amazing members! We’d like to highlight everything that hubs have to offer, and present glimpses of your individual creative energies to the wider and professional audience from Athens, and across Europe.

You can contribute ideas for conference interventions (public program and ECHN’s closed sessions), artistic contributions by members of your organization or your community, proposals for DJ/live performances for the music events, or even “gastronomic contributions”. For each category, you can read more in the online form.

All regular ECHN members are invited to contribute their proposals by Friday, June 12th via this online form. In the form, you can also read all of the technical details about the process, and we will make sure to get back to you by the end of June.

You can also join the next ECHN ONLINE FAMILY BRUNCH on June 5th at 11 AM (CET) if you would like to ask us anything about this initiative, or discuss your ideas with us and other members!

This year’s BAUTOPIA actually focuses on the topic of sustainability. But this time, it will be treated with a slightly different edge. Yes, environmental challenges are still here, they are here to stay, and we don’t feel we’ve made much progress thus far. We are experiencing some “de-growth” though, but unfortunately it is happening in the realms of common sense, rational thinking and human compassion and empathy, which are all becoming scarce. Complexity is increasing, as we struggle to sustain even the basic levels of our existence, let alone our environment and the planet which we are consistently letting down.
