Original is a rural innovation hub based in Alhama de Granada, Spain, that connects local communities, researchers, designers, craftspeople, industries and institutions to develop projects rooted in local needs, knowledge and resources.
The hub focuses on activating underused rural spaces and locally available resources as opportunities for social, cultural and bio-circular innovation. Through participatory workshops, applied research, material experimentation and cross-sector collaborations, Original supports the development of new initiatives while strengthening existing local knowledge and networks.
Based at the historic La Purísima flour mill, Original works locally while building connections with organisations and rural innovation initiatives across Europe and internationally. It acts as a connector between community knowledge, research, design and industry, helping ideas move from local challenges and resources towards collaborative projects, experimentation and long-term implementation.
